A HISTORY OF
HAYDEN HIGH SCHOOL IN THE 1970's
In
1970, there was a new school board appointed: Rev. Thomas
Santa as Principal, Robert Aley as Director of pupil
services, Sr. Margaret Dolores Green as the Director of
Organizations, George Silovsky as the Director of
Personnel, and Sr. Mary Denise Sternitzke as Director of
Curriculum. There were 820 students enrolled with a
graduating class of 223. In February, the Activities
Complex at Hayden West, which can be viewed to the right,
was completed.
- In 1971, a student body of 838 and a graduating class of
211.
- In 1972, a student body of 823 and a graduating class of
189.
- In 1973, a graduating class of 196 and a student body of
863.
- In 1974, LeRoy Brungardt as the new Director of
Activities, and a graduating class of 204 and a student
body of 836.
- In 1975, Sr. Mary Patricia Lenahan is appointed new
Director of Organizations and Charles Wood is appointed
new Director of Activities. The student body population
dropped down to 811 and the graduating class was 201.
- In 1976, Sr. Renee Washut becomes the new director of
Organizations. German added to the wide array of classes.
student body population down to 793 and graduating class to
193.
- In 1977, Edmund Delk as new Director of Activities,
graduating class drops to 160 and student body is at 776,
and the first yearbook with color photographs.
- In 1978, Sr. Catherine Labaure Conway as new Director of
Religious Activities, a graduating class of 180 and a
student body of 789.
- In 1979, a graduating class of 198 and a student body of
785. The first year to nominate kings at major dances.
Before, only Queens were nominated.
