What Happened at Hayden???

A Timeline of Hayden events from 1950 -1959

1950 -Football won all league. The school participated in a Crop parade and the stamp drive was a big event.

1951 -Our football team was undefeated, we were league champs. New spiffy band uniforms were obtained for us. Student's found fun and exciting to dance with potatoes between them and see who could do so the longest.

1952 -Once again our football team was undefeated. This was the first year that Hayden had a school newspaper, we named it The Light.

1953 -Sodalist delivered more (and bigger) christmass baskets to the poor than ever.

1954 -Latin club won big in the competitions. St. Cecilia Library was expanded into a new "reading center". It was the first year that Hayden had either sewing or driving classes. We had two different chirstmas parade floats that were featured in the downtown christams parade, and our "Hit Parade" costumed dance was a huge success.

1955 -We have a new principal this year, Sister Joseph Mary. The newly formed school board helps head various school organixations and to plan school activities with faculty members. The football team went undefeated, except for a tie with Highland Park.

1956 -Once again we have a new principal in Sister Mary Columbia. We gave the school newspaper a new name, The Capitolite. The sophomores were referred to as "sophies".

1957 -Reverand Henry Beier is the new school president. The theme of the year is "A Life Worth Living", and the boys Pep club greatly expands.

1958 -Reverand Henry Beier get his hands dirty and becomes our new principal. The Future nurses sponser a successful sock hop.

1959 -This is the first year for the Honor Pep club. The mothers club celebrates its 25 year anniversary at Hayden. Freshmen play with jacks and hula-hoops at orientation, and the world greeted a new Pope.
